Merinda Park was formed in February of 1998 and started competing in the winter season of 1998.
The club began with 20 teams and out of the 20 teams 17 made it to their first ever finals. From the 17 teams making it to the finals, 13 teams made it all the way through to the grand final. 9 of the teams had the pleasure of winning the clubs first ever grand final.
Over the years Merinda Park has never in its history missed winning a premiership in all the seasons they have been competing.
Another achievement for the club is how successful we have been competing in tournaments outside our district. We have been successful at winning in the following tournaments:
- Mill Park
One of the clubs biggest achievements was having the opportunity for the U18 girls to compete with a team from China. The girls played a fantastic game and the game ended with the final score: China 39—Merinda Park 32. The game was played over the Queens birthday weekend of 1998 at Whittlesea.
In the summer of 1999/2000 the club started a team of players with disabilities which has now formed into a competition of four teams. Merinda Park has also taken players to tournaments with some success but it all about participation.
As a club our primary goal is the enjoyment of Basketball and developing the fundamental skill of our members in a fun way.
Our recent achievement was being awarded the inaugural Casey Basketball Association award for the ‘Domestic Club of the Year 2016‘
